Are you on your school’s meal plan? If you eat regularly in the dining hall there are still strategies you can use to keep healthy. Whether you eat every meal at the dining hall or only a couple meals per week, it is important to make sure you are getting all the nutritional value possible! We already shared our tips for navigating the grocery store, so here are a few tips and tricks for navigating the dining hall!
Tip 1: Do a lap around the dining hall!
Scope out all your options for the day before you make your choice
There is nothing worse than putting something on your plate only to realize there was a better option
Tip 2: Set aside time to eat!
Making specific eating times part of your daily schedules will make sure you’re not scrambling to find time to eat or rushing through meals
If you get overwhelmed by a packed dining hall, try going before or after big rushes!
Tip 3: Make a great plate!
Don’t skip the fruits and vegetables stations!
Also try to have a protein and whole grain option with every meal!
Tip 4: Get creative
It is very easy to get sick of the same options that dining halls offer, be creative in what you choose to keep it interesting
One easy way to do this is to make different kinds of salads and wraps!
