One great way to save time and money in college is by meal prepping! If you are just cooking for yourself, meal prepping can make sure that foods don’t go to waste. Meal prepping encourages healthy eating and makes it much easier to avoid eating out! If you can find some time to prep for the week, you will save time later on! Here are a few tips for how to get started:
Tip #1: Pick a day of the week to meal prep
Similar to last week’s tip for grocery shopping, picking a day to meal prep will make it easier to become a habit and a staple in your weekly schedule
Weekends are great, but a day where you have a light class schedule works too!
Tip #2: Invest in kitchen organization
Have some freezer bags on hand for storing and marinating meat
Having a good selection of tupperware is a must (and make sure it fits in your fridge nicely)
Tip #3: Veggies veggies and more veggies!
Vegetables are a staple to any healthy college diet. Meal prepping them makes it a lot easier to reach for them!
Be mindful of when you will want to eat them, meal prepped veggies may go bad fast
There is no shame in frozen veggies either!
Tip #4: Don’t stress about it!
Meal prepping is supposed to save you time and stress, not the opposite
It may take some trial and error to figure out what works best for you!
